1. Information We Collect
We collect various types of information to provide and improve our service. This includes:
1.1 Personal Information
Information that identifies you as an individual, such as:
Full name
Email address
Phone number
Billing information
1.2 Financial and Investment Information
When you use Raziel, we collect the investment and portfolio information you enter or upload, including:
Companies, investment entities, holdings, valuations, and performance metrics you record
Investment documents you upload, such as SAFEs, subscription agreements, and other agreements
Billing information required to process your subscription, which is handled by our payment processor
We do not connect to your bank accounts and we do not collect bank transaction data.
1.3 Usage Data
We collect information about how you interact with Raziel, such as:
IP address
Browser type
Device information
Pages visited and actions taken within the app or website
Log-in and log-out times
How you interact with features in our mobile app
Crash reports and error diagnostics from our mobile app
1.4 Documents and Content You Provide
We collect and store the content you submit to Raziel, including:
Investment documents you upload
Documents you send to your Raziel workspace email address, together with the sender and recipient addresses, subject line, and the results of email authentication checks
Information you enter directly about companies, entities, and holdings
Documents you provide may contain information about people other than you (for example the names, titles, signatures, and contact details of counterparties, company officers, and other investors). You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to share that information with us.
2. How We Use Your Information
Raziel uses the collected information to:
Provide, maintain, and improve the service
Personalize your experience and provide customized insights
Process payments for subscriptions and services
Send you important notifications about your account
Analyze usage patterns to optimize performance and features
Respond to customer service requests and resolve issues
Read and extract information from documents you upload or email to us, where the workspace owner has enabled AI document reading, as described in Section 4
3. Sharing Your Information
We do not sell personal information for advertising. Service providers listed below process data for us under contract. However, we may share your data with:
Service Providers. We share data with third-party vendors who process it on our behalf, under contracts requiring protections equivalent to those in this policy, and who are not permitted to use it for their own purposes:
Google Cloud Platform: application hosting, database, file storage, and the AI document reading described in Section 4
Firebase (Google): account authentication and multi-factor authentication
Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics: usage analytics and crash reporting in our mobile app
Cloudflare: network security and content delivery; all traffic to Raziel passes through Cloudflare
Stripe: subscription payments and billing
Loops: transactional email such as account, invitation, and billing notifications
Resend: delivery of investor update emails sent by founders
SendGrid (Twilio): receiving documents sent to your Raziel workspace email address
Services Operating Under Their Own Terms. Some features rely on Google services that act as independent data controllers and handle your information under their own privacy policies rather than ours:
Google reCAPTCHA, used to protect multi-factor authentication, receives device and interaction information including your IP address
Google Maps and Places, used for address autocomplete, receives the text you type into address fields and your IP address
Legal Compliance: If required by law, we may disclose your information to governmental authorities, regulators, or other entities to comply with legal obligations.
Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of the transaction.
4. AI Reading of Your Documents
Raziel can read investment documents to identify what kind of document they are and pull out key details, so you don't have to enter them by hand.
This is off by default. AI document reading is only available once the owner of a workspace has turned it on in that workspace's settings. Until then, documents you upload or email to that workspace are stored and are never sent for AI reading. Each workspace is separate, and turning it on for one workspace does not turn it on for any other. The owner can turn it off again at any time.
What is processed. When AI reading is enabled and a document is uploaded or received, the text of that document is sent to Google's Vertex AI service for classification and information extraction. This includes any personal information contained in the document, whether it relates to you or to other parties named in it. We do not send your name, email address, or account details alongside it.
Who processes it. Google LLC, through Google Cloud Vertex AI. Google processes this content as our service provider under the Google Cloud Platform Terms of Service and its Data Processing Addendum. Under those terms, Google does not use this content to train its models and processes it only to return results to us.
Where it is processed. Document content sent for AI reading is processed in the United States.
What we keep. We store the original document, the text extracted from it, and the structured details identified during reading.
Your choice. Beyond the workspace-level setting, you can also turn off AI reading for any individual document at the point you upload it.
5. Where Your Information Is Processed
Your Raziel account, your portfolio data, and the documents you upload are stored and processed in the United States, as is all AI document reading.
A small number of the services in Section 3 operate on global networks, so limited technical information (such as your IP address when a page loads, when address autocomplete runs, or when multi-factor authentication is verified) may be handled outside the United States. Our authentication provider also operates across multiple regions, so the information used to sign you in and verify your identity may be processed outside the United States. In each case we rely on contractual protections requiring standards equivalent to those in this policy.
6. Data Security
We take your data security seriously and implement a variety of measures to protect your personal information:
Encryption: All data is encrypted both in transit and at rest using industry-standard encryption protocols.
Access Controls: Only authorized personnel have access to your personal information, and they are bound by strict confidentiality agreements.
Secure Authentication: We use secure authentication methods, such as two-factor authentication (2FA), to protect your account.
However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and while we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services. After you close your account, we may retain certain data to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
8. Your Data Rights
Depending on your location and applicable laws, you may have the following rights concerning your personal information:
Access: You have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you.
Correction: You can request corrections to any inaccurate or incomplete personal information.
