Key differences

What actually sets them apart

  1. A different primary job

Sydecar is how a deal lead forms, funds and administers an SPV. Raziel is how an investor tracks every position they hold. An LP can invest through Sydecar and still keep the full portfolio in Raziel.

  2. One platform’s vehicles versus your whole private portfolio

Sydecar’s LP dashboard covers vehicles run on Sydecar. Raziel holds SPVs from any administrator, fund commitments, direct SAFEs and priced rounds, and the entities that hold them.

  3. Returns and re-marks

In Raziel you record a new round once and every position in that company is re-marked, with MOIC, IRR, TVPI and DPI calculated from your cash flows. Sydecar’s pages do not describe return metrics on the LP dashboard.

  4. Founder tools

Sydecar’s tools help deal leads raise SPVs. Raziel’s founder tools are for startup founders: a fundraising pipeline, investor updates and a cap table, free through 100 contacts.

To be fair

Where Sydecar is strong

No tool is right for everyone. These are the areas where Sydecar does more than Raziel today.

  • End-to-end SPV administration: formation, dedicated bank accounts, KYC/AML, Form D and Blue Sky filings, distributions and K-1s.
  • Transparent, published SPV pricing with no carry taken by Sydecar.
  • A single digital flow for LPs to onboard, sign and wire, with K-1s delivered in a Tax Center.
  • Support for layered SPVs, secondary SPVs, non-US investors and IRA investing.

Switching

Moving from Sydecar to Raziel

Most of the setup is importing what you already have. The Investor plan starts with a 14-day free trial.

  1. Keep using Sydecar to sign, fund and receive K-1s for the deals you join there.
  2. Start a 14-day Investor trial on Raziel and add each Sydecar SPV position in a few fields.
  3. Forward SAFEs, statements and capital call notices from your other deals so Raziel records the details.
  4. Record new rounds as they happen so Raziel re-marks positions and updates MOIC and IRR.

Raziel vs Sydecar: questions

Is Raziel a Sydecar alternative?

Not for deal leads. Sydecar forms and administers SPVs and funds. Raziel is a portfolio tracker for investors and founders. For an LP, Raziel complements Sydecar by tracking Sydecar positions next to everything else you hold.

I invested through a Sydecar SPV. Why use Raziel too?

Sydecar’s dashboard covers deals run on Sydecar. If you also hold SPVs on other platforms, fund commitments or direct SAFEs, Raziel puts them in one portfolio and calculates returns from your own cash flows.

Does Raziel replace my K-1s from Sydecar?

No. Sydecar delivers K-1s for its vehicles. Raziel tracks positions, cash flows and returns, and it does not prepare tax documents.

How does pricing compare?

Sydecar charges deal leads from $4,500 per SPV and lists no direct LP fee. Raziel’s Investor plan is $49/month through 30 companies after a 14-day free trial, and the Founder plan is free through 100 contacts.
