Best Angel Investment Trackers in 2026: Spreadsheet vs Software

A search for the best angel investment tracker is a category choice, not a trophy. You are comparing a spreadsheet, dedicated angel-ops software, and a multi-asset book. Carta and AngelList are issuer or syndicate portals, not a personal ledger. The sibling best alternative investment apps roundup is the multi-asset class. The angel portfolio tracker page is how to log a book. Neither is this comparison.

This is not legal, tax, or investment advice.

Spreadsheet vs dedicated software vs a multi-asset book

Three products answer the same query and do different jobs.

  • A spreadsheet you own. Excel or Google Sheets can hold company, instrument, cash, cap, discount, fully diluted percentage, and a link to the file. The angel portfolio spreadsheet template is that column list. It works while the book is small and every SAFE conversion still fits in your head.

  • Dedicated angel software. AngelHub, Pinion, and Signed sell SAFE rows, update inboxes, pro rata, and (on some plans) tax packs. Sable is on a waitlist and claims Carta and AngelList sync. 8FIGURES sells a Carta-connected angel tracker inside a wider net-worth product. Homepage quotes are marketing, not independent reviews.

  • A multi-asset dashboard. Startups plus real estate, crypto, and public equities in one book. Raziel sits here. So do the names pointed at on Raziel vs Kubera vs Sharesight. Do not recap that table. If you only write startup checks, an angel-only tool owns more of the SAFE math. If you also hold funds or property, a startup-only ledger leaves the rest of the book on another tab.

One shadow ledger vs many founder portals

Carta's cap table is the company's ownership file. Carta's explainer (The Carta Team, July 29, 2026) defines it as shareholders, share counts, equity types, and convertibles (SAFEs or notes). That file is the company's source of truth, not your book across issuers. Investors request access after they accept securities (Carta support: Tools and Services, then Cap Table Access). The company grants Restricted, Basic, Advanced, or Full details. All four levels can see current FMV. Access is per company. Names that never issued on Carta do not appear.

AngelList's 2026 homepage calls itself the financial system for private markets: formation, capital calls, distributions, tax, and reporting for funds and SPVs. For an LP, signed documents live on the investment page. Valuations are private by default. AngelList help: individual marks show as locked unless the fund lead enables them. With at least 10 investments on the platform, you can see aggregate net value (realized plus unrealized). All valuation data is delayed by 90 days. That is a syndicate portal with a confidentiality delay, not a ledger of direct SAFEs you wired off-platform.

The ops failure is reconciling ten founder portals at tax time. One shadow ledger, spreadsheet or software, is the job. The portals are inputs.

What dedicated angel tools actually price

Copy current public pages. If a number is not on the page, it is omitted.

AngelHub (angelhub.app and /pricing) is built specifically for angel investors. Homepage copy claims 60 to 70 percent of angels still use spreadsheets. Treat that as vendor copy, not a census. The product list includes SAFE notes, SPAs, cap tables, follow-on tracking, and dilution calculations. Free: up to 5 investments, basic MOIC, ROI, and IRR. Pro: $29/month, up to 25 investments, deal pipeline, CSV import. Fund: $79/month, unlimited investments, API access. Paid plans print a 7-day money-back guarantee.

Pinion (pinion.vc) is built for angels and small family offices. Direct deals get MOIC, IRR, and a pro rata calculator. Venture funds get capital calls, distributions, NAV, and commitment versus called capital. Equity grants get vesting. Free: $0 forever, 1 user, unlimited investments. Family: $4.95/mo or $50/year, 2 users, AI update parsing, quarterly reports, MCP assistant. Team: $19.95/mo or $200/year, up to 5 users. Enterprise is custom. Pinion's FAQ: it is not a bank or custodian.

Signed (signed.com) leads with SAFEs, update forwarding, pitch triage, and tax-ready reports. Free: $0 forever, up to 5 investments. Angel: $29/month, unlimited investments, email forwarding, CRM. Investor: $149/month, multi-entity tracking (LLC, trust), QSBS clock, pro rata tracking. K-1 tracking is printed as Launching soon. Do not treat it as live.

Sable (sable.sequel.co) is a waitlist. It claims Carta and AngelList sync. No price is on the page. 8FIGURES' angel tracker page offers Carta connect for startup equity, SAFEs, and convertible loans. No price is on that page.

When a spreadsheet is enough

Excel works until conversions, follow-ons, and K-1 packets outrun the tab. Dedicated angel tools own SAFE and cap math because they store instrument type, cap, discount, share count after conversion, and (on some plans) pro rata without a linking formula. A multi-asset book is for people who also hold funds, real estate, or wallets. There is no honest N that applies to every book. AngelHub's free cap is 5 names. Signed's free cap is 5. Pinion's free plan is unlimited names for one user, then charges for shared workspaces and AI. Those are product limits, not a census.

If the book is a handful of direct SAFEs, a dated spreadsheet plus the Carta logins you were granted is enough. If you join many SPVs, you still need the AngelList portal for documents, and a ledger that does not lock marks for 90 days. If K-1s and QSBS clocks matter this tax year, read Signed's Investor plan as printed, including Launching soon on K-1 tracking.

Where Raziel sits

Raziel is not an angel-only tracker. It is a multi-asset alternative-asset dashboard: startups plus real estate, crypto, and public equities. Current product claims: IRR and MOIC, cap tables and valuations, AI ingest of deal docs, capital calls, wallets and bank linking. It will not replace a company Carta login or an AngelList vehicle portal. Use those for issuer data. Keep one book you control. The startup investment dashboard is the money page if the book already spills past startups.
